So why, at my most recent check up did my blood glucose reading come back as pre-diabetic? I gave up red meat entirely over 20 years ago. For the last year and a half my friends and I have been training for and run several 5ks, 10ks, and a half marathon. I was only 30lbs over my high school weight after 20 years and two children. Why me?
Because. There is no why. But I was able to change part of that story. I started studying. I read several books and watched movies on health and nutrition. For me, for my body, elimination of most animal products lead to better health and a (to date) 15lb weight loss.
By reducing the animal products in my life I reduced them in my family as well. My daughters are happy and healthy girls who rarely get sick. The only problems they have is with their digestive tracts. And now that they are consuming less dairy they are having fewer problems with constipation. And so have I.
Too much information? That is fine by me. We feel better. Not everyone needs to eliminate animal products entirely. But a reduction will most certainly help. Try to switch one meal to a whole food, plant-based diet and see how you feel. It has helped us.
